Priene-Miletos-Didyma
Priene,it is known to have been settled before 1200 BC. The city offers the Temple of Athena, built in the 4th century BC as directed by Alexander the Great, the 6000-seat theatre which dates to the 3rd century BC and the Prytanium which is still standing.
After the visit of Priene you will proceed to Miletus which was once a port, now over ten kilometers from the sea, where Paul met with the Ephesian elders and made his farewell speech, poignantly described in Acts 20:13-37. The size and the magnificence of the Theatre is striking, originally standing right on the port, and it accommodates 15000 spectators.
Your next visit after lunch will be the Didyma Apollo Temple; it is the sanctuary of Apollo, twin brother of Artemis. The oracle at Didyma had the same fame as the more ancient one at Delphi in Greece and there were pilgrimages from Delphi to Didyma. This oracle had predicted Alexander's victory over the Persians.
